Acts 4:23-31

23On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. 24When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. God’s Love- Is it Really Unconditional? – Part 2

So in my last post I tried to raise my concern over the repeated use of the word “Unconditional Love” by people to make people feel better and make them realize that God loves them irrespective of whatever they do. I received some comments both positive and negative about it. Even I had some discussion with few people about it. You can read some comments by an Anonymous person who has sharp disagreement with what I have written. I respect his zeal and appreciate the effort he has put in writing all those comments. So I decided to write a Part 2 giving clarification on certain aspects so that no one will misunderstand me.

Again I want to stress that God is Love and God loves every person in the world. His love is so great that He gave his son Jesus Christ to die. But use of this word unconditional in a wrong way is the concern I have tried to raise here.

You talk to a person who is running away from God thinking that God will never accept him because of his Sin. It makes sense in that case that God loves you irrespective of what you have done. You can repent and God will accept you. There are lots of articles written for and against the subject as to whether God hates sinners or not. You can do a search and read some of them to get a better understanding.

But my concern is against the use of this term to point to the fact that sin is not an issue with God. Your past, present and future sins are already forgiven, God has no issue if you commit sin, you don’t commit sin just to keep Satan away etc. If you are a person who have never heard these terms being used by preachers then chances are that you will hear about such things very soon. It’s a fast spreading teaching. It’s already there in America and if you are in any other part of the world then you may soon hear things like this. I know many people who subscribe to such ideas and teach people about it. If you carefully see then you will find that all these concepts actually hide behind the concept of Unconditional love understood in a wrong way.

Anyone who has listened to these types of teachings will understand and agree to what I am saying. So from the point of view of a person who is growing in his spiritual life, this word in wrong sense can create an issue. The question is why should I need spiritual growth since God’s love is Unconditional to me? Why should I need any spiritual discipline in my life? It will ultimately lead to a dangerous concept of liberal Christianity. It’s no wonder that it’s already being reflected and seen in many places. Concept of Casual Christianity is growing not only in western countries but also in other places. We have already reached a time when it has become difficult to find any difference between Christians and non-Christians. I agree that exceptions are always there but the radical difference which was reflected through the first century church and believers is lost to a large extend. We all need to take the blame for that. When I write this blog, I am not excluding myself from that list. There is a need of true revival. What we need is not another emotional revival but a revival which will change the life style and make us radical in our life style for the world to see Christ through us.

If our goal is this then I don’t think we need to just highlight the word unconditional to attract people. The reason is that a spirituality which takes man’s responsibility away completely and puts everything on God alone is not true in itself. Word of God has lot of condition set for different things. No one can deny that. If a person has to be saved then he has to believe in Jesus Christ.

So we have to careful with the use of this term. If we use it then we have to make sure that we explain both sides. In this post I don’t want write more as it will go out of scope of this post.

Let me remind one things- My failures or weakness, let it be spiritual, should not force me to believe things differently to accommodate and justify my failures and weakness. I should submit myself and pray for God’s grace and help in overcoming everything and leading a victorious life which is pleasing in the sight of God. Hiding behind concepts like unconditional love to justify my weakness or lifestyle or my preferences is dangerous. If I am not able to follow something which Bible asks me to follow then I should not take the cover of unconditional love to justify my actions in the site of God as well as other people.

I hope things are clearer now. If not then you can write to me and I will be more than happy to elaborate more about it.

So even though God’s love is not conditional, it’s simply not unconditional in the sense that it forces God to agree to all my actions and ignore my sin. God’s love does not take away his righteous judgment and holy anger against people who don’t do his will.

Numbers 14:18
'The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.'

Nahum 1:3
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.

Romans 2:5
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

God’s Love- Is it Really Unconditional?

In the beginning let me admit one thing. If you don’t read this carefully, there is a chance that you will misunderstand.

Have you ever heard the word “Unconditional Love” being used again and again from pulpits by preachers to make people understand the love of God? They base this concept on the basis of few verses which at times they interpret in a way to fit their own idea. For example Ephesians 3:19
“and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. “

Do a search about this word "Unconditional" in your Bible. Can you find this word anywhere in reference to God’s Love?

So what does this mean? No matter what I do, God still loves me. Yes, when I was a sinner, God first loved me. When we were yet sinners, God showed his love towards us by sending his Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.

Now there is some danger of over emphasis of this word unconditional. I want to bring it out.

Paul Brownback, in his book The Danger of Self-Love, tells it this way:
"... by unconditional love we are speaking of love on the basis of being rather than doing. One implication of this teaching is the place of grandeur that it gives to the human being. I am lovable just because I am human; therefore being human, in and of itself, regardless of what I do with my humanness, must have some sort of independent value or worth. It is by itself a sufficient claim to respect and esteem" (p. 66).

In human society it can mean to give and to expect unconditional love from one another with no strings attached. While unconditional love and acceptance supposedly promote change and growth, they make no requirements. But God, who is love, requires change and enables his children to grow in righteousness.

God’s love to us is great and is available to us by grace. We cannot gain it by doing some rituals or we cannot simply earn it. There is no work of human beings which will be good enough to earn this love. So does that make God’s love “Unconditional”?

Now let’s see a famous verse i.e. John 3:16-
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

So in this verse there is no work demanded from people to be saved but there is a condition- Whoever believes. It is simply a condition to be saved.

God loves us but the use of the term “Unconditional” gives us altogether different picture. Did Jesus really talk about Love of God in an “Unconditional” way in human sense?

See John 14:21 ‘Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.

What is this verse saying? Can you see any condition in that? You see it yourself.

Now let's look at the story of prodigal son found in Luke 15. This is used by my many people to explain God love as Unconditional. Is it really a story of unconditional love? Did the father go out seeking the son and support him for his foolishness of going out of house? It is true that the father waited patiently for his son to return. If the son would‘t have ended up in trouble and returned back to his father with repentance then what would have happened? This story reflects God’s love, mercy, long suffering and forgiveness. Can you see the concept of unconditional love of God anywhere in that story?

So if you purely think of God’s love as unconditional in the sense that God ignores all your actions and loves you then there is some problem with that thinking. The father forgave his son who came back and repented. So what does that mean? God so loved the word. It is true. But there is Justice and righteousness also in God.

If it is Unconditional Love then why did Jesus preach the sermon on mount teaching people how to conduct their life? Why did he ask people to be born again? Well if it is fully unconditional then I think every human being will be saved on the simple fact that they were born in this world and God loves them. Otherwise how can that love be called us Unconditional. If it is unconditional then there should not be anything attached to it. You do what you want. That will lead us to the universal Salvation concept. Then there is no need to preach the Gospel.

So can we suspect that this phrase is used by enemy to deceive people and give a different, wrong and false idea about the God of Bible? Yes that’s the truth. Few days ago I was in a meeting where a young man who has been taught this lie stood up and said that “God doesn’t care about my Sin. God loves me.” What a terrible lie. God loves him but God hates his Sin. I am not sure if that is clear to that young man.

This dangerous concept is in sharp disagreement to the Justice of God found throughout the Bible. Any person who reads the Bible with an open heart can easily understand that God of Bible hates sin and he punishes sinners. He loves everyone. That's why He gave His son Jesus Christ. Some may argue it’s the Old Testament and old covenant. You can look in the New Testament also. Bible has many instructions as to how to conduct our life. Read the Gospels or the Epistles, you will see it. Almost every book of New Testament has practical exhortations regarding how a man is suppose to lead his life in this world. Can we hide behind the word “Unconditional Love” and do what we want. It will deceive many if it is understood in a wrong way.

I did a study and research about this subject and found lot of things about it. This phrase is not found in the Bible. This is a buzz word used by enemy to promote casual and easy going Christianity. The results may not be evident now but a time will come when things like this will start reflecting on churches. What’s the message the young people in the churches are getting? They already they have so many pressures to go behind the things of this world. On top of that these type of teachings which does not focus on the whole picture will lead many to be deceived. Let me quote few verses I found on a website here. Read for yourself and think about it.

Jer. 5:12-13 (NIV) "They have lied about the Lord; they said, 'He will do nothing! No harm will come to us; we will never see sword or famine.' The prophets are but wind and the word is not in them..."

Jer. 8:6-9 (NIV) "I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, 'What have I done?' ...My people do not know the requirements of the Lord. How can you say, 'We are wise...' Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?"

Jer. 23:16-18 (NIV) This is what the Lord Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. They keep saying to those who despise me, 'The Lord says: You will have peace.' And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, 'No harm will come to you.' But which of them has stood in the council of the Lord to see or to hear his word? Who has listened and heard his word?"

Jer. 23:21-22 (NIV) "I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied. But if they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds."

Lam 2:14 (NIV) "The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The oracles they gave you were false and misleading."

Luke 3:7b (NIV) "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?"

John 3:36 (NIV) "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

Rom 2:5,8 (NIV) But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed... For those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

Eph 2:3 (NIV) All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Eph 5:6 (NIV) Let no-one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

1Co 2:13 (NIV) This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

2 Tim 4:2-4 (TCN) Proclaim the Message, be ready in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, encourage, never failing to instruct with forbearance. For a time will come when people will not tolerate sound teaching. They will follow their own wishes, and, in their itching for novelty, procure themselves a crowd of teachers. They will turn a deaf ear to the Truth, and give their attention to legends instead.

Heb 13:9 (NIV) Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.

I may sound strong in this. May be negative to some people. But I want you to read these verses for yourself and carefully examine.

Let me tell one more thing so that no one will misunderstand me. I strongly believe God is Love. I know I am saved by grace. It’s by the mercy of God that I am alive and what I am. But..

False Teaching - Audio Message Update

Other 6 messages are of Dr.R.Stanley. 4 preached at Minnesota and 2 of them preached at Chicago. I would recommend all of you to listen to them as they have some solid and sound teachings.

We are living in times when so many wrong and false teachings & teachers are flourishing like anything. As I read the Epistles of Paul, Peter, John etc, I am sure this was a problem even during their time.

Some messages of Dr.Stanley is against some of the false teachings. He speaks on subjects like Deception, Different Spirit, Different Gospel etc. I will be adding the video of these messages very soon. I will update once its done.

1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

1 Timothy 6
3 If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

20Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.

Disappointed in Pursuit of Truth- Spiritually Confused?

Most probably you are reading this post because you searched for some spiritual matter and ended up here. We are living in times when we have so many tools available for gaining information and knowledge about any subject. Internet is a good tool for that. But I am going to share a concern today which you may have also faced in your life.
Now let me tell you something. I was born in a traditional Christian family. I know this term sounds strange to some people as one person once asked –“How can a Christian be traditional?” Well I will talk about it sometime later and let’s get to the point. But when I was 16yrs I got the opportunity to confess my faith in Christ and take water baptism and was part of a Pentecostal church. Since then at times I found it a challenge to accept many practices and teaching of people of different denominations. But I never faced any issue or conflict in regard to what I believed about subjects like sin, justification, sanctification etc.

The messages I used to hear from different preachers never contradicted in regard to foundational teachings of Bible. But for some time now I am listening and exposed to too many new teachings. I am sure that I am not alone in this situation but there will be many who are in similar situation. There are so many preachers out there. Everyone is preaching Jesus Christ. But the difference is there in their messages. Everyone claims that God revealed it to them and wants to us to believe that that’s the supreme revelation. Everyone has a different version and idea about all subjects in Bible. One side you have prosperity preachers. Other side is extreme grace. Then there is a person who says you should not sing the song- Blessed be the name of the Lord because God cannot take away. Then things like animal signs of Holy Spirit. What to do? Confused?

Well if you are in such situation then you need to take some drastic steps else you will end up in a big mess. First thing I want to tell you is that don’t run after each and every preacher. Then read the Bible on a regular basis and look for yourself what the Bible says. Just don’t believe what the preacher wants you to believe but believe what Bible says. As days pass we see false teachers and preachers arising.
Read these verse:-
  • Matthew 7:15 -"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
  • Matthew 24:11-“.. and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.”
  • Matthew 24:24-“For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.”
  • Mark 13:22-“For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible.”
  • Luke 6:26-“ Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.”
  • 2 Peter 2:1- But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
  • 1 John 4:1-Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
My advice is don't yield to any teaching which is contrary to the sound doctrine found in the word of God. Make your personal Bible reading and meditation the first source for learning. Don’t allow books and Cd’s of preachers decide what you believe.
I plan to study & write about some of the heresy and doubtful teaching which are flooding the spiritual circles.
Don’t get disappointed in pursuit of truth. Don’t run behind everything and get confused. I will add some video links in few days which will help you to understand and overcome some of the concerns I wrote in this post.
Till then dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Are you Satisfied with Ordinary Church Services?


Today I want to bring to your attention to something which I feel is very important for people to understand and needs to do something about it. My question is - are you satisfied with ordinary church Services? Now you may be attending any church but the question is do you feel the presence of God in your Services. Is the anointing of Holy Spirit flowing in your church? Are you witness of supernatural things in your church. When was the last time a miracle happened in your church?


Now if you can answer YES to few of the questions above then you don't need to read this blog. But if the answer to most of the questions above is NO then read this.


Recently one of my friend gave a testimony. He said he was feeling very much discouraged and someone told him to go to a church where a revival is going on. He went there and during the service he felt like someone asking him to kneel down. He resisted for sometime and finally he did. Then he started crying and he felt a big burden removed from his life. He prayed and a big transformation happened in his life. Now I feel thats the work of the Holy Spirit.

In John 16:8 Jesus said about Holy Spirit like this:- "And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment." I think that if these three things are not happening then there is something wrong. One of the primary work of Holy Spirit is to convict us about our Sins. But many times we see that people have misunderstood the work of the Holy Spirit to some other things. I know that Holy Spirit does lot of things but one of the primary work is to convict people of their Sin.

Every move of God or Revival started with people confessing their sin. But now a days we see that churches don't preach against Sin but preach only blessings. Every time people gather for fellowship the God's power and glory should be reflected. If that's not happening then we need to seek God's face and cry.

We should not be satisfied with ordinary usual Church Services. We should seek God's face to see the move of God in our gatherings.

Fellowship in Computer Age- Are we losing it?



We are living in times when everything is becoming High Tech. Well, I am not against it. But anything not used properly will have its own bad effect on human beings.

One area in which people have brought technology too much is the area of spirituality.



People just prayer over phone when they can physically meet people and pray. Church leaders who stay within the range of few miles use technology to take important decision regarding God's kingdom and work when they should actually get together and pray together and discuss and take decisions. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with doing it once in a while. But it should not become an habit and way of life later.



At times we see too much dependency on technology which is taking away some of the good things we badly need.



I am thinking of moving away as far as possible from technology and modern day inventions wherever its not needed. They are making the life more complex. That's my thought. Slowly people are moving into a virtual world where the essence of fellowship is getting lost. There are advantages of meeting people face to face. Relationships are build and a persons outlook is shaped. A bond is developed by fellowship. But slowly many things in spiritual world is being copied from professional world and it will simply not work. The professional world works on the simple concept of profit and gain but the real spiritual world works on loss and sacrifice.

First century church gave importance to Fellowship. They consistently met together for fellowship and worship. To them, fellowship was much more than just getting together. It was a common concern expressed also in practical acts of giving and sacrifices (see Acts 2:44-45; 4:32, 34-35). If we try to move away from this vital concept then there is a big danger that we all will end up in a virtual world with the dynamics of fellowship also becoming virtual.



But this is my advice from Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (NLT)



Take time out of your busy schedule to meet people for time of Prayer and Bible Study. Don't spend your life just in front of computer. Strike a balance in your life. Don't forsake the habit of reading from Bible and taking notes on a notebook with reading from your PDA or Computer. Try to be a real person and not just a person who is in his own world. I know this thought is challenging in today's world. But just see for yourself and you will find the difference. You will find yourself more refreshed and encouraged.



Don't allow this practice of fellowship which the first century disciples practised to be lost in your life, family and church(Very Important).

Church of Oprah Winfrey

I got to see another interesting thing last day. Thought of sharing it with you all. There is a new age movement (I will call it as a cult) coming up with the blessing of Oprah Winfrey. Watch this video first.



Now when we see all these things, the faith of a person who believes in the Bible reaches a new height because these all are fulfillment of prophecies written in the Bible.

I don't know much about Oprah since I don't watch her programs but I am sure that she has a big influence among people and there are many people even Christians who admire her. I can give you some links to learn more about this which will help you all in understanding how serious it is.

Is John Hagee promoting Heresy?

John Hagee, the Pentecostal “pastor” of the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, issued a book titled, In Defense of Israel.

His claims are;- This book will expose the sins of the fathers and the vicious abuse of the Jewish people. In Defense of Israel will shake Christian theology. It scripturally proves that the Jewish people as a whole did not reject Jesus as Messiah. It will also prove that Jesus did not come to earth to be the Messiah. It will prove that there was a Calvary conspiracy between Rome, the high priest, and Herod to execute Jesus as an insurrectionist too dangerous to live. Since Jesus refused by word and deed to claim to be the Messiah, how can the Jews be blamed for rejecting what was never offered?

Now if you are a thinking Christian concerned with heresy and false teachings coming up then you must read about it and find for yourself whats the truth behind it.
You can do a search and you will get lot of information about it.

1 John 4 :1 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
2 Peter 2:1-3 :- "But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping."

Now be sure that there will be lot of false teachers and heresy coming up in the last days. Many will have a form of godliness but deny its power (2 tim 4:5). So make sure you test every teaching and doctrine in the light of the word of God.

Note:- Since you are a matured Christian I am not going to give any conclusion in John Hagee matter but its up to you to see it if you want. But if we really want to follow Christ then we must take a stand against false teachings.

Recent Updates

It's almost 3 weeks since I wrote the last blog. I got bit busy with many things. First we had a fasting prayer and then I went to Dallas to attend ICPF Awake Camp 2008. In between I have changed the www.gospel-link.com site to a different server and hence lot of changes are happening in the site. It's not finished yet but I will try to finish it as soon as possible.

There is also a Malayalam gospel movie Arinjittum Ariyathae by IET. The link is http://www.gospel-link.com/Gospel_Movies.aspx . It's out there in the youtube and it has lot of hits and I think its a good gospel movie which explains some of the basic beliefs of born again christians.

I also have links to some live radio stations in Hindi, Punjabi, Malayalam etc. I will be adding it soon and watch out for it. Some of them I am really enjoying and I praise God for enabling those people behind to do things like this. I am plannig to make gospel-link.com a real linking site. Time is always a constraint.

Now let me add few things about ICPF Camp. It was a great blessing to be there in the camp this year. There were different sessions for different groups and I am sure that everyone enjoyed it. The organizers did a great job with so many people attending the camp. My estimate is that there were more than 500 people. I got the opproutunity to meet some great men & women of God during the camp. I am sure that meeting some people were divine appointments as I could learn a lot from the life and ministry of many people. The theme of the camp was "Set apart for the glory of God'. Next years camp will be held in Houston.
ICPF is doing a good work among college students in India and now they are growing in US also. I am glad about that as I have few friends who are in the leadership of ICPF. I want to write more about certain things I learned during the last weeks but then that will make this post too long. But I will try to add in the coming days.

Joy - Love Righteousness and Hate Wickedness

We see people running here and there to obtain joy in their life. There are many reasons contributing to the fact that people are finding it more difficult to find quality time or Joy in their life. Many are busy with their work while others are busy even though they don't know why they are busy. This may sound strange but that's the truth. Families don't get time to sit together and at least have a dinner. Television shows or other things take some houses dinnertime. Communications among family members are going down and it is affecting the children a lot. Some how people are not finding joy in their life.

So what is the solution to this. People have found out different ways to have joy in their life. Let me give some examples of most common ways in which people try to get joy. Some think that going out on a vacation is the solution. But what after you come back from vacation. Other people have other ideas like watching a movie, going to a night club or party, hanging out with friends etc. But what after 2-3 hours of movie or party? Then there are many who think drinking and indulging in sinful things give them joy. What they fail to understand is that Joy is not pleasure. Its something different.

I got this definition of Joy from somewhere. It says, "Joy is an essential spiritual practice growing out of faith, grace, gratitude, hope, and love. It is the pure and simple delight in being alive. Joy is our elated response to feelings of happiness, experiences of pleasure, and awareness of abundance. It is also the deep satisfaction we know when we are able to serve others and be glad for their good fortune."

Now Bible speaks a lot about joy. In fact Joy is one of the spiritual fruit expected of a born-again Christian. But many times we see that people don't have this joy in their life. Many things can be said about this subject. But today I don't want to write much. I want to mention just 1 verse from Bible that tells us how to have this joy in your life. The verse is Psalms 45:7

"You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." (NIV)

The formula given here is simple but not followed often. It says that you love righteousness and hate wickedness. Then God will set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of Joy.

Now we can interpret it in many ways. But one thing I learned from this verse is that in order to be anointed by the oil of joy you need to do one thing- Love righteousness and hate wickedness. That’s a requirement. God promises you to place you above your companions.

Now the last thing - We may say that it's very easy. You may be a church going Christian. But hating wickedness requires a deep commitment to follow God. Loving righteousness also requires the deep commitment. We are living in a society and time when a person who love righteousnessand hates wickedness is considered as someone old fashioned and out dated. Pressure is always there to go after wickedness. Few examples are watching movies that has wicked philosophy, watching pornography, using abusive and filthy language etc. Now you may say I don't love these things but I am just ok with it. I am not that conservative.

But here the Bible is asking us to hate wickedness. I don't want to write much but want you to think. Do you really hate wickedness in your life or are you ok with wickedness. Do you really love righteousness or are you just ok about that also.

One way to find joy and joy in abundance that God provides is to love righteousness and hate wickedness.

Presence of God in our Life

Leading a life pleasing in the site of God is every Christians desire. Many times we hear about the presence of God being preached. But most of the time the preacher will be narrating the story of some other great man or women of God who experienced the presence of God in their life.

A wrong idea which has come in the church today is that people have the idea that presence of God is something to be experienced in church or some other special occasions. A idea of experiencing the presence of God always and leading a life in close walk with God sounds like an old fashioned thing for many people. I say like this because if we really had then we wouldn't be doing many things which we do. Now think about things we avoid doing when we are on fasting or when we are in church. When we are in spiritual environment then we avoid many things. But we do the same things when we are alone. Now there seems to be some problem with that. Are we considering God as one among many things in our life or are we really considering him as main thing in our life.

Do we really long for the presence of God in our life. If we do then how do we conduct our life. What is the standard of our life? Is it good enough so that the presence of God will be there always in our life?

I would encourage you to watch this message given by Paul Washer. This message is titled as shocking. But I think he is just trying to put forward some important things which this generation Christians must understand. First Obey then Teach

We are living in a time when wickedness is all around us. But at the same time we have so many resources to study the word of God. There are so many Bible study tools available that sometimes it becomes difficult to select one. If we search then we get so much of material on different subjects. There are thousands of sermons available online on almost all the subjects we can think of.
Some places so many meetings are conducted with so many preachers and teachers emerging with many thoughts. Many times people also want to hear new things and new thoughts. Otherwise the preacher is not good. That's what they think. Its always good to receive a new message from God. But that should not happen at the cost of us forgetting the basics. Many times we hear so many sermons and so many new thoughts that we forget the basics. But a balanced child of God will make sure that he/she spends quality time meditating on the simple truths found in the word of God. Else there is a chance that we may wander away from the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now I want to bring to your attention a verse from Bible. It's from Mathew 5:19
"So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven." (NLT)

In this verses Jesus was telling a simple thing but an important thing. If you don't obey and just teach others to do it then there is no benefit of it. You will be least in kingdom of heaven. But if you obey and then teach then you will be great in Kingdom of heaven.
When we meditate of these verses then we can see how true it is. Sometimes the sermons we preach we don't follow. Sometimes we act like a salesmen trying to sell a product even though he himself is not convinced with the product. That's the reason why we fail to make an impact with the word of God in the way it should make. If we don't obey or follow something and still try to preach the same then there is not much benefit of it. The real impact will come when we obey and teach others also.
Let's think of all the things we taught others may be through preaching, group discussion or may be on a one to one basis. Are we able to follow it and obey it? If not then let's change our ways.

Question for you- are you a follower of God's Law or a Salesmen trying to just teach or sell to others what you learned from other places?

The need of the hour is that we need people who will Obey and teach the word of God. We need followers and not just guides.

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead


A new year has started. Whenever something new happens people are excited and they have expectations of something good or better happening in their life. In some cases what we expect happen and in most of the cases what we hope or expect doesnot happen. People make lot of new year resolutions and sometimes fails to keep it even for 1 month. But life still goes on and on.


I want to bring your attention to a verse from the Bible. It’s taken from Philippians 3 and verses 12-14
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.


Here the writer of this book Paul says that he wants to forget what is behind and wants to move ahead towards the goal to win the prize for which God Called him. Many times we get blogged down by the things which happened in the past. We are unable to move beyond certain things. Sometimes it may be the hurts, bad things which happened in our life etc. Sometimes it can be our achievements. When we read that entire chapter Paul express three desires.

They are :-

  • I want to know Christ
  • I want to be like Christ
  • I want to be all Christ had in mind for me

In this new year lets make it our goal. Let’s forget what we are supposed to forget and move ahead. The call and the promises of our God in each persons life is big. If we allow ourself to be caught up in old things then we won’t be able to achieve it.

Lets strain towards what lies ahead and press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus.
